Initiatives

Creative resistance and commons-based alternatives

The P2P Lab has, since its conception, initiated and helped steer multiple initiatives as well as supported others from organisations and individuals in our network. The following list includes the projects and infrastructures we initiated either as research pilots or simply because we think they are worthwhile endeavours, which we still maintain and utilise to pursue our social work.

Tzoumakers

Tzoumakers is an open lab for communities to cooperatively design and manufacture tools for small-scale agricultural production and other rural needs. It is located in the Tzoumerka cluster of villages in the Epirus region of Greece. Over the years other initiatives have clustered around Tzoumakers forming a network of rural labs, each addressing local needs, like addressing rural depopulation and maintaining traditional practices, with their own unique ways.

Epirus Living Lab

Epirus Living Lab is an open innovation platform that provides a real-life and society-representative environment for researching, co-creating, testing, and validating new solutions and organizational models. By integrating sustainability, digital transformation, and social inclusion, it bridges research and practical solutions. With cutting-edge infrastructure, EU funding expertise, and global partnerships, it drives impactful, community-led innovations for a resilient and thriving future.

Another Football

AnotherFootball is a collective reimagining football as a space of solidarity, cooperation, and sustainability. Rooted in the joy of the game, it challenges mainstream narratives, fostering a more inclusive and commons-based football culture. Through research, advocacy, and community-driven projects, AnotherFootball engages players, fans, and organizations to shape sports that prioritizes social impact over profit.

CommonEn

CommonEn is a non-profit energy community and test-pilot for the Lab’s commons-oriented practices. Its purpose is the production and management of clean and affordable energy in an effort to promote energy democracy and sufficiency as well as the social and solidarity economy in the energy sector; contribute to de-escalating the continuously increasing energy production; tackle energy poverty; and make sustainable use of local energy.

The Other School

The Other School is an initiative that shares change-making ideas through videos, books, games, and educational courses. It fosters accessible, community-driven knowledge, empowering people of all ages to engage with new ways of thinking and acting. By supporting creative and transformative projects, The Other School bridges education, innovation, and social impact to inspire meaningful change.

Life After Growth

Life After Growth is an initiative dedicated to exploring the conditions necessary for a climate-resilient global economy and society. It critically examines the long-held emphasis on economic growth as a measure of progress, highlighting its environmental and societal implications. Through research, storytelling, and educational programs like summer schools, Life After Growth seeks to redefine values and practices, promoting harmony with both human and planetary well-being.
